Announcement from Father Bill:

Effective February 12, after more than seven years of dedicated service to Holy Ghost, Fr. Hendershott is being transferred to The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Chattanooga to serve as the parochial vicar with sacramental responsibility for the Catholic Student Center at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and live in residence at the Basilica Rectory. Father Hendershott has worked tirelessly to teach the faith and bring the faithful to the kingdom of God, and I am sure we all greatly appreciate his faithful service to our parish. We will celebrate Fr. Hendershott’s service and say our farewells at the Sunday February 3rd CCW brunch. In the meantime, please keep Father in your prayers with thanks for his priestly ministry at Holy Ghost Church.

As part of this change, Fr. Valentin Iurochkin, currently Parochial Vicar at The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul will be transferred to Knoxville to serve as Parochial Vicar and will be in residence at the Cathedral. Like Father Hendershott, Fr. Valentin will celebrate the Latin and Spanish masses as well as English masses. Fr. Valentin was born in Khabarovsk, Russia and has a fascinating story about his journey to the priesthood and to the Diocese of Knoxville that I am sure he will share with us all soon.  We will announce a welcome event for Fr. Valentin that all will be invited to attend.

Please pray for both Fr. Hendershott and Fr. Valentin as they transition into their new homes. We offer God thanks and praise for Father Hendershott’s service to us all.

Pax et Bonum,
Father McNeeley
