Obituary

Mary Wilson’s announcement of Bob’s passing on Saturday:

Another of our dear friends at Holy Ghost passed away late last night: Bob Montgomery.

Bob has been a part of our lives at Holy Ghost Church for so many years, singing in the choir, fixing equipment when it jammed or broke, cooking, cooking and more cooking.  Bob knew how to do everything well and generously shared his talents.  He put together a team of cooks to put on the best Lenten fish supper anywhere year after year.

He tried to teach us all how to take care of St. Martha’s Kitchen at Holy Ghost, but we continue to fall short.  Some of us used to grumble when we got in trouble for not putting things back in the right places or not cleaning out the fridge, but he was so right!  He and his wife Betty were a great team cooking BBQ and Sauce at St. Joseph over the years and hamburgers and hot dogs at our picnics here, Mardi Gras gumbo, Summer Suppers in the Church basement…and the weekday morning breakfasts.

Bob’s life was intertwined with so many of us here at Holy Ghost for so many years.  He went to Mass almost every day.  We will miss him greatly.

Please pray for the family.  He and Betty raised a large family together and loved them dearly!

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let your perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
