Festival choir to launch in time for the Solemnity of the Assumption

Mary C. Weaver Music and liturgy, Music for Mass, Parish News

We’re launching a festival choir to help us celebrate special feasts of the liturgical year with greater joy and solemnity.

This choir–open to singers ages 12 and up (preferably those who can read music)–will join with the parish’s other choirs to sing some of the music at the primary English Mass (ordinary form) and the Latin Mass (extraordinary form) for occasions such as the Assumption, Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost.

This choir presents an ideal opportunity for people who are not able to come to regular weekly rehearsals but who would like to sing a few times a year and are able to commit to a few rehearsals in the four to six weeks preceding these feasts.

Participating in the festival choir does not obligate members to sing for all special feasts.

Rehearsals for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Sunday, August 15) will begin Saturday, July 24, at 10 a.m., in the basement choir room.
