Holy Ghost Parish Mission: how you can help

Mary C. Weaver Uncategorized

Our parish mission will take place on three consecutive nights, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, August 1 through 3.

There are many ways you can be part of the mission, helping draw souls to God.

Prayer Warriors

We are seeking volunteers to pray while members of the Holy Ghost Parish family are visiting homes to seek out Catholics who have not yet returned to Church and to invite all non-Catholics to come to our Parish Mission.

The prayer warriors will meet for adoration in the Church at the same time that the Door-to-Door Missionaries are visiting homes, asking that God guide them in their endeavor, that each home they visit might meet them with grace and love, and that they may return safely.

The dates and times for prayer are as follows:

  • Thursday, July 29, from 6-8:15 p.m.
  • Friday, July 30, from 6-8:15 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 31, from 3-5:15 p.m. (note time difference)

Door-to-Door Missionaries

We are seeking volunteers to canvas a pre-designated area to visit homes of parishioners who have not yet returned to Church and to invite them and others to the Parish Mission.

Those canvasing will also invite any non-parishioner or non-Catholic they meet to attend as well. Canvassers will work in teams of two, visiting as many homes as possible during their time out, simply extending the invitation to attend the mission or Mass if people are unable to attend the mission. The goal is to reawaken the spirit of faith and remind them that God cares and loves them. Training will be provided to all who volunteer.

The dates and times for door-to-door missionary visits are as follows:

  • Thursday, July 29, from 6-8 p.m.
  • Friday, July 30, from 6-8 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 31, from 3-5 p.m. (Note: time difference)

The training session for Door-to-Door Missionaries will be on Saturday, July 24 at 9 a.m. in Henkel Hall.

The dates and times for being a table apologist are as follows:

  • Sunday, August 1, from 8:15-9:15 p.m.
  • Monday, August 2, from 8:15-9:15 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 3, from 8:15-9:15 p.m.

Church Tour Guides

We are seeking volunteers to serve as Tour Guides of Holy Ghost Church each evening at the end of the Parish Mission. We would like to share the beauty and history of this wonderful historic North Knoxville church with all those who enter our doors. Training will be provided for all who volunteer.

The dates and times for giving Church tours are as follows:

  • Sunday, August 1, from 8:15-9:15 p.m.
  • Monday, August 2, from 8:15-9:15 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 3, from 8:15-9:15 p.m.
