There was a special procession and May crowning immediately following the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 2, led by our first communicants.
For centuries, the month of May has been a traditional month to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary with crowns of flowers, pilgrimages, and several celebratory feast days. Just as we honor our own biological mothers on Mother’s Day (May 9, this year), we remember and honor our spiritual mother, Mary, the mother of Our Lord and Mother of his Church. What a special gift Jesus shared with all generations of Christians! “Behold, your mother.” -John 19:27
